New certificates for the Zech Umwelt group

Efficient quality management pays off - Zech Umwelt group receives two new certificates in Germany and Brazil.

The Brazilian subsidiary of Sapotec, Porto Alegre, does not only carry out efficient environmental protection with regard to its customers. Since 18. September 2009, international certificate ISO 14001 has been an important systematic part of the company´s management. In detail, the certified environmental service covers the “biological rehabilitation of contaminated soils“ at the Nova Santa Rita soil purification plant in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. After a lot of training in the ISO-system, participation in the Brazilian environment week, first aid and fire fighting classes, in the crucial audit, the Sapotec team demonstrated that the environmental management system has become a main component of daily work for all employees.

At the same time, the German subsidiary Umweltschutz West GmbH received a certificate for the compatibility of the plastics recycling machine in relation to the mechanical recycling of plastics and plastic/liquid compounds in accordance with the packaging regulation at the Gladbeck site.

Through an internally-developed treatment procedure using modern plant technology, contaminated HDPE-plastics are salvaged from bonded materials using cold washing.

Most non-used waste is passed on to become high-quality grind material for mechanical recycling.
