Product Recycling

Alternative building material
New for old

Building waste accounts for around 60% by volume of the total waste produced in Germany – and the trend points upwards. This harbours enormous potential in terms of secondary materials which it is essential to utilise by channelling it through today’s recycling industry. What for others is still in the future has long been part of our own everyday work: we, ZECH UMWELT GmbH, use a wide range of treatment and cleaning facilities to convert waste building materials of all kinds into valuable recycling products. Our “secondhand” materials have established a “first class” reputation on the market: they provide financial benefits and also satisfy the quality requirements for new materials, now and in the long term.

Filling and recycled sand Every grain in A-grade quality:

One question often raised in the remediation of contaminated sites is what should be done with the contaminated soil and demolition debris once it has been excavated. We provide an alternative to landfill disposal – with our stationary and mobile soil remediation technologies, we process the hazardous material and turn it into a valuable resource. The recycled product is suitable for use as wet or dry filling sand for filling pipe trenches or as fine levelling material, and can also be used as a quality-controlled construction material.

RC ballast
Coarse gravel Enabling sustainable building: With our plants we condition old concrete, old brickwork and old gravel of the rail traffic so that such building waste can be recycled. The waste product is used to make high-quality RC ballast, which can be used as a substrate in road, rail and path construction, for example, or as a drainage material. When classified for wet use, the material is also suitable for tunnel construction. The product is mainly supplied by our plants in Kriebitzsch and Coswig.

Drainage materials
Fine gravel A versatile material:: We process broken and classified building waste and turn it into secondary materials free of fine particulates. These materials are mostly used, and with great success, in the fields of leachate collection and gas drainage. When the material contains very high percentages of crushed concrete, it is dimensionally stable and can also be used for stabilising slopes. When it contains fines, the porous concrete is gladly used as path material.

Substitute building materials
Sand An eco-friendly and economical alternative: At our various plants, which are licensed under the Federal Immission Control Act and certified as a specialised waste management company, we also recycle mineral waste. From the waste, we produce inexpensive substitute building materials, mainly in thermal processes; these materials are principally used as landfill construction materials. These are high-quality products in construction physics terms, offering ecofriendly alternatives to non-renewable raw materials such as sand and gravel.
